The limit for the Small Claims Court in Ontario has increased to $25,000 effective January 1st, 2010. This increase in the limit recognizes the costs and time commitment of litigation and enhances access for self represented individuals or others to the justice system. It is very much appreciated when we receive a call letting us know that our client has an old or outdated address or telephone number. Once we are advised of this information our records are updated and our client is advised. My Assistants will be professional and polite and appreciate being told if they are attempting to reach someone at a wrong number or address. It is not only a waste of our resources, it may be an aggravation for the individual who now resides at the previous address of a consumer who was delinquent in the repayment to their creditors or obtains the same telephone number.
